Biography
German painter, scenic designer, art professor, and typographer, whom art critic and historian Will Grohmann called "the most European of German painters." Baumeister used deep images from the mass unconscious that portrayed common themes.
In 1926 Willi Baumeister married the painter Margarete Oehm (1898-1978). He died on 31 August 1955 at age 66 in Stuttgart, Germany.

Sy Scholfield later provided Lutheran Church birth and baptism registry entry (Stuttgart, 1889, no. 75) stating he was born "22 Janner 3/4 6 Uhr" (22 January, 5:45 AM) and baptised 17 March.
