Biography
French admiral who served in Algiers and North Africa during World War II. He was also responsible for commanding the operations of the French fleet at the landing in Provence in August 1944. In 1945, he was appointed as commander of the 1st Division fleet sent to Indochina. He served as head of the naval forces in the Far East, ending his career in 1950 as Chief of Staff of the marines. He died on 14 July 1950 at Neuilly-sur-Seine.
