English subject of one of the earliest family portraits of English origins. In 'Alice Barnham and her Sons Martin and Steven (1557),' he and his mother and brother are portayed by an unknown artist. Martin became sheriff of Kent in 1598, was knighted in 1603 and died on 12 December 1610.
