Franz Xaver von Baader

Biography

German Catholic philosopher, theologian, physician and mining engineer. He wrote against empiricism since Descartes leading to atheism and engaged himself in metaphysics (Jakob Böhme) and mysticism. A representative of the Scholastic school, his works include "Fermenta cognitionis". He held great influence over other philosophers of his time. He died in Munich on 23 May 1841 at age 76.
