English actor of Irish decent, best known for his appearances on television in the United Kingdom, where he played the titular role in the BBC One drama series "Robin Hood" (39 episodes: 2006-2009). During filming of the second series, (which aired in 2007) Armstrong broke a metatarsal bone in his foot during a staged fight scene. In August 2008, the BBC confirmed that Armstrong would be leaving Robin Hood at the end of the third season, which aired on 27 June 2009, citing his statement that he was "looking for new challenges".
