Israeli singer and a distinctive voice in the Mizrahi music scene. Argov is widely known in Israel as "The king of Mizrahi music"

He was active between the years 1977-1987 . Argov is considered one of the greatest and most important Israeli singers and one of the great masterpieces in Mizrahi singing, a leader in Mizrahi music and one of those responsible for recognizing Mediterranean music as part of the Israeli experience. Known as "The Nightingale" and "The King". Argov is a controversial figure, due to his drug addiction and the criminal offenses he committed including rape.

Music critic Ben Zilka described his musical importance as follows: "Argov is an artistic pioneer on the scale of well-known composers from Western popular culture, musical geniuses whose very little of their revolution was related to the case".

On 6 November 1987, Argov died in his cell in an apparent suicide by hanging. He was 32. He was found dead at 4:00 AM, hanging from strips torn from a blanket wrapped around his neck.
