Israeli novelist and short-story writer who is best known for his Hebrew-language allegorical novels of the Holocaust. He was one of Israel’s most prolific and talented writers, he published 47 books and his books were translated to 35 languages. He won multiple literary awards.

He died 4 January 2018.
