American film writer, producer and director. He began his career as a stuntman and connected with Howard Hughes for whom he became a film editor. He moved on to producing and had a hand in episodes of such popular television shows as "Ozzie and Harriet" and "The Mary Tyler Moore Show." His screenplays were used for the movie "Armored Car Robbery" in 1950 and "The Timetable" released in 1956. In 1964 he directed "The Candidate," a cult classic starring Robert Redford. The multi-talented yet little known Angus is credited with the brilliant editing that made "Easy Rider" into a powerful film. He died on February 5, 1996 in Fountain Valley, CA of pneumonia. He was 78.
