Biography
German royalty, the fourth child of King Maximilian I Joseph of Bavaria and his second wife Karoline of Baden. She was the identical twin sister of Elizabeth Louise, later Queen of Prussia as wife of Frederick William IV of Prussia.
In 1851 Amalie Auguste became chairman of Women's Association of Dresden (Dresden zu Frauenverein), an organisation founded by her sister, the then queen. In 1859 she reorganized it as the Zentralausschuß obererzgebirgischen und der vogtländischen Frauenvereine and established a legal basis for it, under which the organisation continued until 1932.

On the same page the author states:
"In der Münchner Residenz stellte man am 13. November 1801 nach der Geburt ihrer Zwillinge um Viertel nach 4 Uhr nachmittags fest, . . . Die ältere der Zwillinge wurde Elisabeth Ludovika genannt nach ihrer Taufpatin Tante Luise."
[Translation: In their Munich Residence on 13 November 1801 twins were born at a quarter past 4 o'clock in the afternoon; . . . The older of the twins was named Elisabeth Ludovica after her godmother, Aunt Louise].
