American theatrical lighting designer who has earned four Tony Awards for Best Lighting Design of a Musical or Play for his work on Spring Awakening in 2007, for The 39 Steps in 2008, for American Idiot in 2010, and for Hedwig and the Angry Inch in 2014.
His 1992 video about the 1991 gay bashing murder of Houstonian Paul Broussard, Can't Take That Away From Me, was internationally exhibited including the Margaret Mead Film Festival, American Film Institute and British Film Institute. His photography is included in the permanent collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
