Kantha Bopha Children's Hospitals in Cambodia
For many years, Astrodienst has supported Dr. Beat Richner's Kantha Bopha Children's Hospitals and the Aids maternity ward in Cambodia. Every year we donate a considerable sum for this extraordinary and important project which goes to help the mothers and children, the weakest and most defenceless of Cambodian society.
We would like to invite you too to make a donation. We will double every donation you kindly give from our own resources and the money will be forwarded in full to the "Foundation Children's Hospitals Kantha Bopha" by the end of the year. Please also read the details below.
How you can make a donation
You can donate the sum of Euro/CHF/US$ 5, 10, 20 or 50. When ordering an item you can find the link "I want to donate" in the shopping cart. Click and choose the amount of money you want to give. You can also donate without ordering any item from our shop. Just click on this link for donations.
Kantha Bopha Children's Hospitals
The five hospitals and the Aids maternity ward in Cambodia are run with a budget of 37 million Swiss francs. Medical care is free for all. More than 2000 people are employed by the hospitals. With a few exceptions, these are all Cambodian doctors and nursing staff who are trained locally.
In 2022 120 000 children were admitted to the hospitals and 18 000 children were delivered in the maternity ward. About 660 000 children received ambulatory treatment and about 26 000 operations were carried out. Thousands of families daily receive instructions on health care.
The 37 million Swiss francs (CHF) are raised as follows: the Cambodian government pays USD 6 million, the Swiss government CHF 4 million. The rest is raised through private donations.
Details of the Astrodienst Fundraising Campaign
- Astrodienst promises to double every donation up to the amount of CHF 50'000 at the expense of Astrodienst.
- Each donation which arrives at Astrodienst until Christmas will be doubled.
- All donations will be delivered to the "Foundation Children's Hospitals Kantha Bopha" at the beginning of the year 2024.
- Later incoming donations or donations that exceed the sum of CHF 50 000 will be forwarded to Kantha Bopha without doubling.
Fundraising Campaign 2024
Between mid November 2024 and mid January 2025, our users and customers donated a total of 10'550 Swiss Francs (equivalent to about 11’800 USD) for the children hospitals in Cambodia. As promised, Astrodienst is doubling this sum by adding its own donation of the same amount. We have transferred 21'100 Swiss France to the Kantha Bopha Foundation, on February 18, 2025. We thank all the generous donators!
