Silvia Benz, Astrologer, Author and German teacher

Silvia Benz, born in 1964, has been writing the Weekly Horoscopes for Astrodienst since 2008. She is also the author of the transit interpretations of the Love Horoscope, a section of the Personal Daily Horoscope.

In her first twenty years of working life, she was a foreign-language secretary in Stuttgart and Munich. In Munich she discovered Astrological Psychology (Huber School) with Wolfhard König, which she left after completing the foundation course to explore the broader field of astrology. She worked with Friedrich Meier (the magazine merCur), which brought her into contact with many astrological schools and organizations.

At Beatrice Ganz’s symposium in Zurich (Astrological Society of Zurich) in 1998, she met her future husband, Dieter Koch, through whom she came to the Astro-Club Zurich. There she became a board member in 2011 and was responsible for recruiting speakers, with a special interest in nurturing emerging talent. Her collaboration with the long-time president Annarita Müller-Ferranti was extremely fruitful and straightforward, and it continued even after the Astro-Club was dissolved (2024).

Since 2018, Silvia Benz has worked as a German teacher for migrants. In this work she engages deeply with the German language, which now seems much more interesting to her than it once did. But what is even more important to her are the encounters with people from many different countries and backgrounds. She no longer has to travel the world to be in touch with the world.

Writing the weekly horoscopes for Astrodienst is a welcome complement for her. When she needs a break from writing, she is drawn to the garden. Gardening has become another great passion.

From her marriage to Dieter Koch came their daughter Sophia, who studies at the University of Zurich and has since discovered astrology for herself as well.
