Famous Scottish international footballer who played as an inside forward. He played for London club Tottenham Hotspur during their most successful period in the early 1960's. He was known as "The Ghost" for his ability to show up unseen in a key position. He was struck by lightning while sheltering under a tree while playing golf on 21st July 1964.

His son Rob has no memory of his father, as he was only six months old when he died, and his older sister Mandy was only two at the time. White also had a son, Stephen, from his first marriage; however, he and his first wife separated within weeks of their marriage and he never saw his first-born son, who did not discover the identity of his real father until he was a teenager.
