Jules Vallès (Portrait by Gustave Courbet)


French Socialist/Anarchist journalist, bohemian, revolutionary and novelist, founder of "Le Cri du Peuple" newspaper (1871), and most famous for his trilogy of autobiographical novels: "L'Enfant" (The Child), "Le Bachelier" (The Graduate), and "L’Insurgé" (The Insurgent).

He died on 14 February 1885.
