American jazz musician, a drummer and singer. He played with Sidney Bechet, Jimmie Noone, Red Allen, and Johnny Dodds. Best known for his work with the John Kirby Sextet.

He was born the 4th child.

He died of tuberculosis in New York City on 24 July 1944.
