American lawyer, educator, and Catholic priest. He was the fourth child and second son of Union Army General William Tecumseh Sherman and his wife Ellen Ewing Sherman. He served as an army chaplain during the Spanish-American War of 1898. Died, April 29, 1933.
Sy Scholfield quotes his mother in "Ellen Ewing, Wife of General Sherman" by Anna (Shannon) McAllister (Benziger Brothers, 1936), p. 154: "I was blessed with another fine healthy boy, born exactly at noon on Sunday the 12th of October (1856)."
