Antonio Rossi (2000)


Italian sprint canoer who competed in five Summer Olympics, winning five medals which included three golds.

He is the winner of a Bronze Medal at the Barcelona Olympics 1992 for the 1,500m Kayak event. At the Atlanta Olympics, he was a Gold Medal in the 1,500m Kayak race on 4 August 1996 after winning a Gold Medal in the two-man Kayak 1,000m with D. Scarpa the prior day, the only Italian athlete to win two gold medals at the Atlanta games. He was the winner of a Gold Medal for the Kayak on 21 September 2000 in Sydney, Australia.

He was the Italian flag bearer at the opening ceremony of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Rossi's wife, Lucia Micheli, competed in the K-4 500 m event at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona.
