German physician, who served as director of the Paul Ehrlich Institute and Georg Speyer House (since 1950), and the Ferdinand Blum Institute for Experimental Therapy in Frankfurt. He conducted research on poliomyelitis vaccines. He died in Frankfurt on 30 January 1967, aged 70.
