American homicide victim, Powell was last seen alive on October 1, 1994 at approximately 11:30 AM in front of her apartment in Clifton Park, New York. She was six months pregnant.

Over 18 months later, her body was found stuffed in a duffel bag on May 25, 1996 that was embedded in an ice chunk in the Hudson River at Stockport, NY. An autopsy revealed that she had been strangled.

Her husband, Warren Powell, was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree murder. However on April 15, 1997, he was sentenced to 41-125 years in prison for selling 0.13 of a gram of cocaine to an undercover State Police Officer.

Warren Powell, born August 17, 1970 in Valatia, NY (according to Arlene DeAngelus; time unknown), was remarried in the Schenectady County Jail on Easter Sunday in March 1997. On October 10, 1997, he was found guilty of Mary Ann's murder and sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. However, on December 30, 2004, Warren Powell won a retrial on a decision that the court cited errors in the jury selection against him.
