Argentine politician, representative of the Radical Civic Union (UCR), who served as Governor of the Province of Corrientes from 1958 to 1962. He was also Provincial Senator and National Deputy for Corrientes. He died unexpectedly on 14 August 1964 in Buenos Aires, during a session of the Chamber of Deputies, while issuing an energetic speech in defence of the already ousted President Frondizi.

Sy Scholfield cites birth record quoted in Fernando Piragine Niveiro: el desarrollismo en Corrientes by Alberto Ariel Domínguez (Moglia Ediciones, 2005), p. 27: "José Osvaldo Piragine, de veinte años, soltero, argentino domiciliado en este pueblo, declaro: que el día veinticuatro del corriente a las seis y cincuenta de la tarde, nació el varón Fernando, a quien vi color blanco hijo legítimo de Natalio de Jesús Piragine de treinta y siete años, casado, argentino domiciliado en este pueblo, hijo legítimo de José Piragine, de nacionalidad italiana,..."

(José Osvaldo Piragine, twenty years old, single, Argentine domiciled in this town, declared: that on the twenty-fourth day of the current month at six-fifty in the afternoon, the male Fernando was born, whom I saw white as the legitimate son of Natalio de Jesús Piragine thirty-seven years old, married, Argentine domiciled in this town, legitimate son of José Piragine, of Italian nationality,...).
