On October 14, 2004 he was accused by a female Fox producer of multiple instances of sexual harassment; he countersued, charging that she and her attorneys were trying to extort $80 million from him. Two weeks later, on October 28,, O'Reilly announced that he and the plaintiff had settled the suit and he would not speak of it further. News reports claimed the settlement cost O'Reilly somewhere between $2 million and $10 million.
