French public servant and financier, from sephardic jewish origin. He was active in the résitance during WW II, then joined the Inspection générale des finances in 1947 and advanced quickly. In 1953, we was involved in funding the weekly magazine L'express with Jean-Jacques Servan-Schreiber and Françoise Giroud. In 1986 he joinded the bank Shearson Lehman Hutton, which became Lehman Brothers, until 1995.
He is the brother of the historian Pierre Nora. He has five children, among them the publisher Olvier Nora.
