Biography

German programmer of music software, musician, guitar builder and astrologer.

Peter Neubäcker became internationally known for his computer program Melodyne, which he presented at the NAMM Anaheim (CA) on 18 January 2001, and with which finished, monophonic sound material could subsequently be manipulated in time and pitch without losing its sound character. To market Melodyne, Peter Neubäcker, his wife Hildegard Sourgens and Carsten Gehle founded the company Celemony, which had 20 employees in April 2008.

Among Melodyne's best-known users are Justin Bieber, Peter Gabriel, Herbie Hancock, Pete Townshend, Mike Shinoda, Midge Ure and Helmut Zerlett.
