Nature: Earthquake: China 2008 (USGS)


Chinese earthquake of 7.9-magnitude quake was felt throughout most of China killing 15,000 at early count, with over 40,000 missing or injured. Many children were buried in the rubble of their schools. In the end there were 87 000 victims, more than 5 mio. homeless.

The USGS gave the epicenter's coordinates as 31.015°N, 103.365°E and the following distances to cities/towns.
