Austrian novelist, poet and playwright. Later based in Germany, he belonged to a group of writers that included the likes of Hans Grimm, Rudolf G. Binding, Emil Strauß, Agnes Miegel and Hanns Johst, all of whom found favour under the Nazis. Kolbenheyer died on April 12, 1962, in Munich.
Sy Scholfield quotes "Sebastian Karst über sein Leben and seine Zeit - Part 1" [Sebastian Karst: about his life and times] by Erwin Guido Kolbenheyer (Kolbenheyer Gesellschaft, 1957), p. 151: "Morgens um sechs Uhr des 30. Dezembers 1878 geschah das ... Meine Geburt scheint nicht allzu schwer gewesen zu sein; die beiden helfenden Frauen..."
Translation: It happened at at six o'clock on the morning of 30 December 1878 ... My birth does not seem to have been too difficult; the two women helping ...
