Matthias Hoë von Hoënegg (1650)

Biography

German Lutheran pastor and writer whose most notable work is his two-volume Commentarii in Joannis Apocalypsin (Leipzig 1610/40). His sermons and writings were strong Lutheran polemics against the Reformed churches, whose beliefs he loathed more than Counter-Reformation Catholicism.

He died on 4 March 1645 in Dresden.

Mathias Hoe von Hoenegg" ["Fraction of the Autobiography of Dr. Mathias Hoe of Hoenegg"] published in "Jahrbuch der Gesellschaft für die Geschichte des Protestantismus in Österreich," p. 29: "Ich, Matthias Hoe von Hoenegg, d. H. Schrift Doctor, bin geboren zu Wien, Anno nach Christi Geburt 1580 den 24. Februar, um 8 Uhr Vormittag."
