Walter Hampden

American actor, considered the Dean of Shakespearean Actors. He played his first presentation of "Hamlet" in 1905 when the star became ill and he took over the role. He was successful for 24 years.

Died of bronchial problems on 6/11/1955 in Los Angeles.
