Sy Scholfield quotes "Erroll Garner, the most happy piano‎" by James M. Doran (Scarecrow, 1985): "Erroll Garner was born on Wednesday, June 15, 1921 (not 1923). I was able to document this fact only after obtaining a valid birth certificate, two separate school records, and verbal confirmation ..." [p. 14]; "Garner's original birth certificate did, in fact, have his name as Earl; but his sister Martha Murray confirmed that his name at birth was Erroll. He was named after a family physician, Doctor Erroll Brown" [p. 15]; "1921 June 15: Erroll Louis Garner and twin brother Ernest Skeen Garner born on the 2nd floor at 212 North St. Clair Street, East Liberty, Pittsburgh. Birth Certificate. Note: Ernest was born at 8:15 am and Erroll at 8:25 am. Dr. S.O. Cherry delivered the twins" [Page 134].
