Source Notes

Sy Scholfield quotes autobiography, "Name Dropping: An Incomplete Memoir" (Sydney: HarperCollins, 2004), p. 1, where she states she was born at "midnight." Date and place confirmed by her birth notice in the "West Australian" newspaper (2 October 1947, p. 1): "FITZPATRICK (nee Baillieu). - On October 1, at Tresillian, to Dawn, wife of Brian Fitzpatrick - a daughter (Kerry Kathleen)." NB. As the birth notice appears in the early morning "First Edition" of the newspaper the day after she was born she must have been born at midnight just into the first of October. I checked the telephone book and Tresillian Hospital is in the Perth suburb of Nedlands.
