German feminist, and author, one of the first feminist thinkers to see gender roles as a result of socialization and not biological determinism. She was born in Berlin to Jewish parents. She became the wife of editor and actor (Friedrich Wilhelm) Ernst Dohm, and had 5 children:

  • Hans Ernst Dohm (1854–1866)
  • (Gertrud) Hedwig (Anna) Dohm(Pringsheim) (1855–1942), mother of Katia Mann
  • Ida Marie Elisabeth Dohm (1856-?)
  • Marie Pauline Adelheid Dohm (1858-?)
  • Eva Dohm (1860-?)

She became the grandmother of the musician Klaus Pringsheim, Sr. and Katharina "Katia" Pringsheim, the wife of Thomas Mann. During the frist world war, Dohm one one of the few German intellectuals who opposed this war from its beginning. She died in Berlin in 1919.
