Sy Scholfield quotes 1pm from his diary entry for 7 August 1974 transcribed in Giuseppe Dessí: Storia e genesi dell’opera: Con una bibliografi a completa degli scritti di e sull’autore by Nicola Turi (Firenze University Press, 2014), p. 25: "Compio oggi 65 anno.
(Translation: I am now 65 years old. I was born in Cagliari, Via Mazzini (already via the silversmiths) on 7 August 1909, at 13:00, as my cousin Mariuccia Pitzalis Coni once told me. My birth was very painful for my mother, and I was a hairy monster).
