French actor and assistant director.
At 21, he starred in the short film "Le Faux Père" by Camille de Morlhon. He was a close friend of Jean Renoir who chose him as an actor in his first four feature films. He played the snobby Hector de la Faloise in "Nana," then a taxi driver in "Marquitta."
A fervent car enthusiast, he accidentally killed himself in 1927 while at the wheel of his Bugatti Brescia, in Fontainebleau, when his car slipped on an oil stain. Jean Renoir, a passenger in the car, escaped unharmed.
