Kurt Browning


Canadian athlete, the young Albertan who won the Men's World Figure Skating championship in the Spring of 1989. He performed his Gold Medal winning exhibition in Paris on 3/16/1989. Browning's performances are electric; he was the first skater in history to successfully perform the quadruple axel in competition.

Browning was inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 1994 and Canada's Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 2000. He was honoured with a star on Canada's Walk of Fame in 2001. In 2006 he appeared on the Fox television program "Skating with Celebrities". He began co-hosting "Battle of the Blades" in 2009.
