Biography

Dutch assassin who shot Dutch politician Pim Fortuyn on May 6, 2002 in Hilversum. A vegan and an animal rights activist, van der Graaf confessed to the killing and was sentenced to 18 years in jail. His trial began in March 2003. During the trial, van der Graaf expressed his moral dilemma over the shooting, claiming that he saw Fortuyn as a danger to weaker groups in society, including Muslims and asylum seekers.
