American baby girl who survived premature forced removal from her mother's body.
Bobbie Jo, the child's mother, age 23, was 8 months pregnant, and a dog breeder. She was found strangled and the baby had been surgically cut from her womb. Police and the FBI found a clue on the woman's computer and found in Kansas Lisa Montgomery, the woman they have charged with the murder and kidnapping. Montgomery had wrangled an appointment with Stinnett on the pretext of viewing the rat terrier pups in Stinnet's kennel. Upon rescue, the child was examined by a pediatrician, declared healthy, and reunited with her father. The child's parents, Zeb and Bobbie Jo, had been married for a year.
According to the news report, at about 2:30 PM on that fatal afternoon, while her husband was at work, Bobbie Jo was on the telephone with her mother when she said, ""Oh, they're here. I've got to go." At 3:38 PM, her mother called 911 after she had gone to the house and found her daughter strangled and unconscious, with a lateral slit across her abdomen. Paramedics vainly tried to revive her but she was pronounced dead at 4:27 PM. Officials thought she likely was dead from strangulation when the baby was ripped from her body.
