Biography
American author of several novels and mother of Lisa See, also a novelist
See began her career as a teaching assistant after earning her Ph.D. and became an adjunct professor of English at the University of California in Los Angeles. She has been a book reviewer for the Los Angeles Times, Washington Post and other publications. Among other awards, she was granted a Guggenheim fellowship in fiction, 1990-91. Her first novel, published in 1970, is entitled "The Rest Is Done with Mirrors." "Mothers, Daughters" was published in 1977 and established her reputation as a serious novelist.She has written under the pseudonym of Monica Highland but usually uses her own name.
