Biography
French director and television producer with a name well-known also as a screenwriter. He directed his first short feature in 1951. His early productions were well-paced gangster thrillers. Sautet attracted international attention in 1970 with "The Things Of Life." His early careers included social worker and music critic and he developed his body of work, writing and producing French television in the 1950s. He died of liver cancer on July 22, 2000 in Paris.
