Biography

Belgian doctor of law, poet and writer. He was a Communist in his youth and briefly belonged to the Trotskyist movement in the late 1920s.

Plisnier was the first foreigner to receive Prix Goncourt. Since 1959 there is an annual literary price for Belgian writers named after him.
