Biography
Iceland volcano, the eruption of a deep glacier chasm between Grimsvotn and Bardarbunga Calderas under Vatnajokull Glacier, starting between 10:00 and 11:00 PM (-1 zone) beginning on 9/30/1996.
On 11/05/1996, shortly after dawn, a sub glacial eruption occurred, flooding Caldera lake. Pent up ascending water lifted the 800 ft thick lid of ice, nearly a cubic mile of water, causing a powerful flood that moved massive 1,000 ton 30-ft high blocks of ice three miles.
