Biography
American earthquake of 4.9 magnitude in the Greater Los Angeles area in southern California. The USGS reports that the earthquake's epicenter occurred 3 miles southwest from Yucaipa, CA and about 6 miles west from Mentone, CA and 71 miles west of the Los Angeles Civic Center, CA. The earthquake inflicted only minor damage but, of note, is that it was followed by a second earthquake in the same area and four in northern California, all on the same day.
