Biography
German-Portuguese philologist.
Carolona is recognized as the most important philologist of the Portuguese language . She had great importance as a mediator between the Portuguese culture and German culture.
In 1911, she became the first female professor in romanism and German studies, at the Faculdade de Letras at the university of Lisbon.
She died 18 November 1925, Porto.
Portugal also issued a stamp for her 150th birthday.
