Biography
Dutch swimmer who was selected to compete in the Atlanta Olympics and had to forfeit at the last minute due to an injury of his right shoulder. Before his forfeiture, Maene was selected to compete in the 100m back stroke and the 4 X 100 individual medley. On 7/16/1996, the Olympic Selection committee had to decide whether Hans Bijlemans or Bart Reymen were to compete in the individual races instead of training only for the relays. The decision was negative for Maene.
