Biography
American actor and singer, best known for his performance in "West Side Story."
Kert's father was a Los Angeles jeweler and his mother an actress. He worked as an extra and stunt player in a score of movies while still in school. He graduated from Hollywood High School and later dropped out of Los Angeles City College to go to New York where he studied acting.
Returning to Los Angeles, Kert joined a group of singers and dancers appearing in a number of small roles until he got the role in "West Side Story." He was a major success in a 1987 tour with concert versions of the Gershwins' "Of Thee I sing" and "Let 'Em Eat Cake."
He died of complications stemming from AIDS 6/5/1991.
