Biography
Roman Catholic theologian, ecumenist, religious philosopher and spiritual writer. Karrer translated many works of theologians of antiquity as well as the spiritual literature of all ages and grappled with contemporary poetry. Although he never had a chair dressed, he is regarded as an influential theologian of the 20th Century.
In 1958 he was awarded the Grand Cross of the Federal Republic of Germany and in 1964 the central Swiss Cultural Award.
On 8 December 1976 Otto Karrer died in Lucerne after a long illness.
