Bankkaufmann; Landesgruppenleiter; baute die Schweizer Auslandsabteilung der NSDAP auf. Nach seiner Ermordung wurde er als Held verehrt  Nach ihm wurde das gleichnamige Schiff versenkt, dass von einem russischen U-Boot 1945 in der Ostsee versenkt wurde. Es waren mehr als 10.000 Flüchtlinge an Bord. Günter Grass beschrieb dieses größte Unglück der Schiffahrtsgeschichte in seinem Buch „Im Krebsgang“.
