Biography
American social reformer. Self supporting from age 14, he sailed to Australia, hunted gold in British Columbia, became a sailor, a prospector, a printer, journalist and editor. In 1886, he ran for public office and narrowly missed winning the post as Mayor of New York. As a political economist, he originated the single tax.
George died 10/29/1897, New York, NY.
