American schizophrenic who was suspected of having stopped his medication when he killed his father on 6/20/1997. Thomas had been hospitalized several times prior to that night, when he chased his 67-year-old father down the street and stabbed him more than 50 times in front of horrified neighbors. When questioned, Thomas stated that he was been ordered by Monaco's Prince Rainier to kill his dad.

Square faced and impassive-looking, the Anglo Thomas was the older of two boys. He had struggled with mental illness for years as his family looked on helplessly. His relationship with his dad was cordial and there were no family fights. On that day, the family was preparing to barbeque when Tom said he had a headache and was going to bed. His dad was lighting the charcoal when Tom got a knife from the kitchen drawer and said, "My father is trying to kill me." He leaped on his dad, pushing him through a screen door of the porch. Day Sr. broke loose and ran to the street but Tom caught him and stabbed him over and over, never looking up. When neighbors interrupted the carnage, Tom made no resistance.
