Biography

British-born who became a Princess in the Belgian royal family on April 1, 2003. She married Prince Laurent of Belgium two weeks later and gave birth to Princess Louise on February 6, 2004.

The middle child of a Belgian mother and British father, she and her family moved from England to Belgium when she was three years old. After completing her schooling in Belgium, she studied as a land and property surveyor and in 1999 received her qualifications as a surveyor.

She married Prince Laurent in a ceremony that, according to the royal website, took place as follows:

"The civil ceremony took place at Brussels Town Hall at 10 a.m. and the religious ceremony at 11. a.m. at the Cathedral of Saints Michael and Gudula. These ceremonies were followed by a lunch at the Palace of Brussels at around 1.30 p.m. On the occasion of the wedding, a concert followed by a reception was held on Friday 11 April 2003 at 7.30 p.m. at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels."
