Given the piece you have here on the movie Gladiator, which stars Russell
Crowe, I thought I'd ask if any Australian or New Zealand astrologers out
there have been able to get hold of his birthtime. I've tried, and NOBODY
has it, not even Lois Rodden. According to the website Maximum Russell
Crowe, he was born April 7, 1964, in Strathmore Park (a suburb of
Wellington), New Zealand. At the age of four he moved with his family to
Sydney, Australia, and his homebase is still in Australia, where he has has a
farm on which he lives with his parents and older brother. There has been
one posting on the Zodiacal Zephyr website (www.zodiacal.com) giving a time
of 12:00 noon, but they cannot give the source. Could someone in Australia
or New Zealand try to clear this up? Many thanks if you manage it, or even
if someone just tries!

Feedback regarding Relationship Horoscope Nr 25519.74-1
I think the horoscope was an accurate of our personalities and how we react
to each other.I have experienced black moods in my partner and when I asked
her why she said she was jealous of me. I think more account could have been
of the fact that we both have MS and are severely disabled with it. The
relationship that we have is mainly a telephone relationship though I do
travel down to see her occasionly. As you said we do have deep feelings for
each other. You said I have a powerful need within to conquer and assert my
individuality.Does this need occur because of having Mars in the 3rd house? On
the whole I think it is a horoscope that shows great insight.

Alois adds: Thanks for the feedback. I am afraid no astrologer - except
a clairvoyant one - will be able to read from a chart that the owner has
a disabling illness. And even if we could, we would never dare to put
something like that in a mail order report. There is a lot of psychological
insight a good astrological report like ours can provide, but the actual life
circumstances cannot be guessed or predicted. It is up to the reader to
make the necessary translation into his/her life situation.
This site was difficult to use as my birth city is one of are several cities
with the same name -- of course the CGI repeatedly put the wrong, but
default, city and the resulting sample chart was wrong. Can't say it builds

Alois adds: It would be helpful for you if you tried to understand
the concept of 'pulldown list' on the Mac. A pulldown list with a selection
of towns with the same name is what you get in the data entry page.
If you fail to understand this concept, our site is indeed too much
of a challenge for you. Please use a simpler service, for example one
based on sun-signs only, for your particular astrological needs.
Then you will not have to bother with any data entry.
I have been studying at this site for about 6 months now. I am 18, and I love
astrology, I have yet to find a better site than this that is free! I think
that I could definatly be an astrologer some day, because I am so deicated to
the work of astrology and what lies within its perception. I really had a
question I would like to be answered if it wasn't much trouble... my
boyfriend and I, both have saturn and libra, which often times relates to
marital problems, divorce and dishonesty of others. I am really questioning
if this man is my soul mate, but I am deathly afraid of divorce, we are both
registered under astrodienst and I was wondering if I would have some feed
back from some of your staff. Thank you for posting such a wonderful and
insightful site! keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!!

VIP charts: Lord Alfred Douglas 22nd of October was also a poet and NOT a
lesbian.
Oscar Wilde-CONDEMENED FOR HOMOSEXUALITY? I read it was for sodomy. Not all
of Victorian England was intolerant of homosexuals or Oscar Wilde. Perhaps
the outrage was at the exploitation of young, underaged males for sex. Boys
who were economically disadvantaged.
Alois, I wonder if Oscar ever forgave Bosie, forgave society and stopped
struggling with his sexuality? OR did he carry ALL of his anger and hurt with
him into his next lifetime? What do you think? Oscar was highly, highly
intelligent and very witty and insightful.

in purely numerical order ?
As my sun is in Aries, I was astounded

birth info changed to 9:34 p.m. in Belem, and I create a relocated synastry
chart with my girlfriend (Born 3/17/78 in Tacloban, Philippines, at 11:45

graduelle Abweichungen gibt, die sich daraus ergeben, daß ich ein eineiiger

On the transit charts, retrograde planets are shown only on the chart itself,
not in the aspectarian below. (Natal retro's are shown, but not transits.) It
would be nice if all retrograde planets -- both natal and transiting -- were
displayed in the aspectarian so everything is at a glance. Thanks!

I've been a faithful participant with your website for quite sometime and
I do have a comment about reference places and where you live. Try a 6

house overload relocated...I can attest that after 13 years of living in this

Alois adds: I absolutely agree that living on Maui is a different
feeling. But relocating will
not turn you from an essentially 12th-house person into a 1st-house
personality. It is interesting that you chose Kula, a rather remote
area of the Hawaiian islands. This choice might be well related to
a 12th house emphasis. At the same time, bringing this Aquarius emphasis
into the 1st house will enable you better to share it with your environment.
For this the cowboy country on the Haleakala slope is certainly a good
place, in tune with essential elements of the Zeitgeist. I love the area. Greet the rainbows from me.

a house to be active from the moment of the first entry of the planet into
the house to the moment of the LAST exit. Because planets can turn retrograde,
they can leave a house but come back a bit later again.
If this happens the transit through house 11 has already begun, while
the transit through house 10 is not yet complete, as Mars will return into
house 10, before he finally leaves.

An impressive collection of web pages on astrology!
Has anyone else noticed that, so often, the zodiacal signs of the planets
(and sometimes their house positions) often correspond to people's characters
(sometimes amazingly so), but that the Ascendant, even when calculated
accurately from reliable birth data, remains uninformative? I see people's
Sun, Moon, etc., signs very often, but their Ascendant seems to have little
to do with their character.
Anyhow, keep up the zany work!

Dear Alois, thanks for answering me so quickly. I just want to explain the
reason for my question. Although my roots are very much brazilian, I was
conceived in the northern hemisphere, in Europe were my parents spent their
honey-moon 70 years ago and every time I went to anyplace in the northern
hemisphere I had some sort of familiar feeling, as if I belonged much more
there than in my own country. Thanks a lot again.Greetings. Lucia.

Alois adds: I think the main reason is that it is not known. Except for
in vitro fertilization, we have no information at which time the egg cell
and the sperm cell merge. It can be many hours, even days, after intercourse.
Astrology has always been pragmatic in it methods: it uses that information
which is available. The moment of birth - or first breath - is a distinct
event and its time is easy to determine. This is why astrology uses it.

Since Tuesday morning, www.astro.com is running on a new server,
consisting of a high performance load balanced server farm based on Linux 2.4.5.
The response time is now again as fast as it should be, about 0.3 seconds
average for each dynamically created page.
The new server can run about 60 daily horoscopes per second, or
5 Million per day.
It will be very easy to upgrade performance further if needed.
Our Internet link is a 100 Mbit connection to the European fibre ring network
by KPN-Qwest.
On the next weekend, we will probably merge the databases of server www.astro.ch
with www.astro.com and there will be only one server then. The occasional
confusion of where your account was will be a thing of the past.
Please wish us luck for the transition!
I love to do such things under retrograde Mercury, to have real fun.
PS: This kind of equipment and Internet bandwidth does not come for free to
Astrodienst. We are however confident that a sufficient number of our visitors
continues ordering some of our reports, so that we receive the funds to
keep up and extend the free services.
Alois

Alois adds: (copy of answer from guestbook archive 18 July 2000)
A sufficiently talented programmer can use our Swiss Ephemeris package
to compute the planetary nodes. There are functions provided for the
osculating nodes of any celestial body. Please see chapter 5 of the
Programmer's documentation for the Swiss Ephemeris.
For celestial bodies for which there also mean theories (Mercury to Neptune)
also mean nodes are available, for the others (Pluto and all 23'000 asteroids)
only osculating nodes are available.
If you are not a programmer, please use the Swiss Ephemeris test page
at
http://www.astro.com/swisseph/swetest.htm
Please change the field 'output format' to read 'PLNn' and enter the date
you want.
The output will give you the following columns:
Planet_name Longitude Osculating_node mean_node
for those bodies where quantity osculating_node or mean_node is defined.
Please be aware that it gives always both, the ascending and the descending
node. For osculating nodes, these are not exactly opposite of each other, when
you use the geocentric mode.
See
Swiss Ephemeris full documentation, section 2.2.4 for more
explanation. The matter is not trivial, though very few astrologers have
an idea about the technical problems involved.
For heliocentric nodes, enter '-hel' into the field 'other options'.
For barycentric nodes, enter '-bary'.
I looked at the ephemerides for year 2000. What does the Delta T = 66.03 etc
mean that is given after each month. Is it the difference between GMT and UT?

Alois adds: There is no difference between GMT and UT, GMT is just an older
name. Delta T is the differences between UT and TDT (Terrestrial Dynamic Time),
which used to be called 'Ephemeris time' in the last century. While UT is
not a uniform timescale (it is ccasionally adjusted, due to irregularities in
the Earth's rotation), TDT is a uniform timescale which is needed as
an argument for mathematical theories of celestial movements.

than one hit in the database of places for the town name you entered.
You selected the wrong one from the pulldown-list which was presented

Now, please use the 'edit data' link to fix it.
It is important to understand the concept of 'pulldown
list' when using our website. It is highly recommended

In Netscape, this feature is called 'Send Page'

Just make sure that you email the page content, not
just a link. If you email a link, the recipient will have access to all your

First off I want to thank the people that upkeeps this site..( whoever is
responisable) but I do have a question.. Why is it my daily horoscope seems
to be a day late? Everytime I read it, its pretty accurate of what accually
happened the day before! . My birth time is right.. I have my birth
certificate.. Is this common?? I know I am using the web page correctly too.
Again Thanks for the website.

Hello! I get your daily horoscope via e-mail. A few times I have tried to
reply to sender, however, there may not be a person on the other end checking
that address. My sun sign is Capricorn. I'm not sure if the answer to my
question has more to do with Capricorn nature or with understanding Capricorn
nature.
I think that the horoscopes that I get for Capricorn are depressing and
inaccurate. Some of them are downright discouraging. Is there anything that
can be done about this? Without suggesting that the author hasn't done her
homework, is it possible that she is less knowledgeable in this area?
Warmest Regards,

meiner so unterschiedlichen Interessen ist. Vielen herzlichen Dank!!!!

I have a question well more like a thought for all you budding astrologers
out there and yourselves Astrodienst. Im trying to pinpint where the internet
lies in rulership and sign in relation to a natal chart. My work so far has
put the internet in the 9th house since this is the house of higher learning,
travel, new cultures, however I also looked into the 11th house because of
the coonection with clubs and societies. Under a sign that the internet would
be classed is without any doubt in my mind Aquarius. This sign is known for
its love technology and humanity in a detached manner which the internet does
represent. However with the planet I am slightly in 2 minds, the Aquarian
element would suggest Uranus, however I have noticed that Pluto going throgh
Sagitarius at the meomnt having an effect with our use of the internet, in
regard to overuse of pornographic material that plagues the internet.
I would be grateful for some ideas on the subject, thankyou.

Hello, Alois! Do you anticipate updating the Forecast section of Free
Horoscopes at any time soon? They're getting rather out-dated! I'm sure it
must be a monumental task, but I thought I would prod your memory!
In the meantime, I have just received my Transits Report for the Year. It
looks good - although I have practically memorized Robert Hand's book (I have
used it since 1979), so it all sounds very familiar. I do wish that you could
get someone to input information on Chiron transits into this report. My
Chiron return (with conjuncting Mars, and both conjunct my ASC) is causing me
a lot of difficulties, and I was hoping for additional insight. Rob Hand
probably isn't interested, but you have someone that helps you with the Daily
Horoscope Reports who seems to include Chiron. Perhaps they can update the
Transits Reports.

Alois adds: You refer to printing of Acrobat PDF files. I have never
observed such problems myself, but I hear that some users have had them.
Of course we do not do this by intent. I am offended by you suggesting that.
Our position on this problem is this: the PDF files must be shown
correctly on screen by Acrobat. This is the case. The fact that the file
can be shown on screen without error message indicates that the PDF
files we send are correct.
Printing is a complex
process happening exclusively in your computer, between your browser,
Adobe Acrobat Reader, your printer
driver and your printer. If an Acrobat file does not print correctly,
you can expect support from: Adobe (for Acrobat), Microsoft (for your
printer driver), the maker of your printer.
You cannot expect support from us, because we do not have access to the
particular combination of hardware and software you will be using.

Why does your software not correct for the Julian to Gregorian date change?
You have George Washington as a Pisces sun, but in fact, he was an Aquarius
sun. Read this:
http://es.rice.edu/ES/humsoc/Galileo/Things/gregorian_calendar.html
The English and their American colonies finally adopted the Gregorian
Calendar in the middle of the eighteenth century. George Washington was born
on 11 February on the Julian Calendar we celebrate his birthday on 22
February.

Alois adds: Please click on the [i]nformation button behind the word 'birthday'
in the data entry form.
It is not possible to handle calendars automatically, the same way we handle
daylight saving time and timezones. The reason is: many historical
birth dates, as recorded in books or encyclopaedias, have been converted
by the book authors from Julian to 'modern' Gregorian calendar style.
But this has not been consistently done, some authors have kept the original
calendar. There is no general rule.
You must know in which
calendar style the data are, and if they are Julian style, please add the
letters 'jul' to the year on data entry.
