Hi, and thank you for the free astro charts. However, I am not happy with the
way that you have changed the partner charts. It is too chaotic, to have to
keep clicking on lines to get a reading. Could you please change it back to
the way that it was? It would be clearer and easier to read, thanks.

This is a question, more than a comment.
In a book by Lewi, he categorizes several sun-moon combinations as Positive
Executive but nowhere in the book does he define this term. Do you have any
insight into what he means by Positive Executive?
Thank you,

Alois adds: A good question which I am happy to answer once in a while.
I pay for this site, as majority shareholder of Astrodienst AG.
Our customers make it possible, by ordering reports from us.
The website allows Astrodienst to show how good it is, and it helps Astrodienst to get a few more report orders. Give a lot, take some.
Astrodienst is a Swiss company, in businesse since more than 20 years, and
fully self-fincanced. We are not like any odd dot-com company, burning vulture
- pardon, venture - capital, selling trash and bound for chapter 11.
We have cut down in traditional print and direct-mail advertising
and invest the
marketing budget mostly in our website where we can give REAL VALUE to people.
We don't advertise, our visitors and our customers do it for us, enthousiastically and with more credibility than any advertising agent ever could.
It is fun to create, program and operate such a fascinating
enterprise like astro.com. We also collect brownie-points up there, AKA good karma.
I just have to say that the variety of free horoscopes using the birth time
is the most selfless thing that I have come across on the internet. Because
of this site, I have learned sooo much about astrology, and even figured out
a lot of patterns about myself and others. I would just like to thank
everyone who has anything to do with this site. It has been such a great
learning tool for me (and I send all my buddies to it too!). Many BLESSINGS
to you all!!! And THANK YOU for your kindness, and the exchange of
information. Age of Aquarius Baby!!!!!!!!

Dear Sirs,
I feel ashamed to insist but I really wonder myself why you do not give a
single word or mention of the URANUS opposition (at the moment) with planets
LEO in natal chart (people born in 1947 have as stellium such as
MARS/SARTUN/PLUT0). Moreover if Saturn for example is the master of ASC.). By
the way, URANUS will also be SQUARE to the SUN in SCORPIO especially if you
have it at 24°. IN FACT YOU DO NOT MENTION THE TRANSIT OF URANUS neither in
the horoscope nor in the forecast despite of their great importance. I am
very surprise and would appreciate to know why.
Looking forward reading you. Many thanks in advance.
N.B.: PLUTO on VENUS do not involve SEXUAL matter only. Especially if you are
an old person....

Alois adds: The introduction to the 'Short report forecast' says:
In the short edition, only a few .. aspects of your natal chart are considered. It is likely however that some important transits of this six month period have been omitted in this sample report.
About the matter of sex: I would not consider 53 as an age beyond sexual
interest and activity. But I agree, the author (Robert Hand)
has focused here exclusively
on only one possible aspect of a Pluto-Venus transit. Of course there are
other levels of expression for this constellation. The author has the Pluto
Venus transit coming up a year from now; maybe you write to him afterwards
and ask him what he says now.
I stumbled onto your site one day while browsing 'astrology'. I'm very
impressed both with the content of the readings and your generosity of free

I wanted to let you know again how much I appreciate and thank you for your
site. It remains indeed to be the finest on the internet.
Having just had an extremely upsetting confrontation with an aquaintance, I
decided to look up what was happening to his transits to see if I could
possibly understand this hurtful occurence. What I found was that Chiron is
Square his Sun the explanation given was exactly what just happened between
us. Immediately after his vengeful words I felt I was forced to cut him out
of my life (which I then severed all forms of communication between us). I
have asked him to never contact me in any way again.
Feeling so hurt upset I came to your site was very comforted by Mr.
Hand's description of what might happen during this transit.
Thank you so very much, I will be able to live with myself now as I was
just trying to be of psychological comfort to this person, but I could not
let him be so destructive to me in the future.
I feel such a relief. His words really were a painful sting.
Can I please give you my heartfelt thank you once again!

Hello,
I have been coming to this site for almost one year and have expressed my
gratitude and appreciation for your generosity before – though I haven’t
thanked you yet for the new features. I am always learning something at this
site. I do appreciate your kindness!
I hope you don’t mind if I make two requests...
1) I love the TRANSIT RITHMOGRAM – an invaluable source for a greater outlook
of one’s life transits – and I wish it included Chiron. Will that be possible
at all? This would be a great addiction for understanding Chiron and its
effects in comparison to other Planets’ Transits.
2) I would love to see a PROGRESSION RITHMOGRAM as well. I find aspects of
the Moon’s Progression easy to be detected, especially because I have a twin
sister and the “mood” at our homes always coincide during certain aspects.
But I haven’t yet fully grasped the meaning of Progressions in relation to
Transits and it would be very helpful to have both charts to compare (I am
still a novice in astrology).
Well, these are just ideas... By the way, is Robert Hand the author of the
Chiron’s aspects texts in the daily horoscope? Do new editions of “Planets in
Transit” include Chiron's aspects, if he wrote these texts?
Many, many thanks, and best wishes to all of you who work at Astrodienst!

The new astrocartography on your site is very useful and educational. One
begins to see how it all works by seeing how the interpretation comes
together for a location, which shows basic principles. One thing that would

I have many questions but I suppose the primary one is the whole notion of
life being a lesson. Virtually every blurb provided from this site (which I
think is excellent - by far the best out there) contains language that is in
effect that of parents to children but in the form of the planets etc. My
question I suppose is this: where does this come from? In other words on what
ultimate reality is this predicated? Is it essentially a real belief in the
planets as gods or sentient entities? If not - and it is a metaphorical
premise - what then is ultimate reality predicated on and how does astrology
fit into that? I find the notion a little disconcerting that we choose to see
ourlives and ourselves as not much more than children bound by these forces.
I think a real look into the nature of astrology as reflecting reality rather
than being caused by it is where the real future of understanding will come
from.

relationship tends to be platonic (sad, but true)and the way to be sexual is
through spiritualized sex. My partner indeed feels that sex is too low for
us! I was trying to imagine what you mean by that. How does one spiritualize

Alois addd: Please see it for yourself: extended chart selection->group Astrodienst special -> Transit-Cyclogram->look at the trace Venus makes over the year
and how it goes into house 8, comes back into 7 and only leaves in May.
See the image of your chart below, the orange track is Venus, the dashed black line is the cusp of house 8 (Placidus house system).
Venus crossed into house 7 in mid-January, it leaves mid-february to return
at the beginning of April, and leaves house 7 only finally around May 10th.
The transit through house 7 only ends when the planet leaves the house for good.
You know this from other areas of your live, don't you? Leaving a little does not count yet.

Alois adds: Learn German, or use http://www.systransoft.com/ for a translation.
It is particularily funny how the machine translates a mixture of English
and German into English: It has no idea that a lot of what it sees is already english, so it looks hard for some german-sounding words within the English text,
and translates those into something else. ROTFL (= rolling on the floor and
laughing). For further acronmys, please see http://www.jabnet.de/seiten/akronyme/akro_r.htm, e.g. ROFLASTC.
Fun aside, Systran's translation of the German 'Astrologen' (astrologers) into
English is worthwile to notice: it becomes 'astro+lied' (sic!), because the
German words 'sie logen' mean 'they lied'. The Swiss Astrologers

Alois adds: The astrologers I have worked with put no special emphasis
on the fact that a planet is in the last degree of a sign. However, I am
sure that some astrologers look at that question differently. There is no
unified body of teaching in astrology. It is more an art - where there
are certain collective trends, but every artist goes her/his own way
of expression -
than a science. I think this is rooted in the fact, that there are dimensions
surrounding the human existence which reach beyond the grasp of mechanistic
science.
Wonderful! It seems like astrology has infinite dimensions like the universe
itself! Keep up the excelllent work. Just one question: what is the
importance of having a planet in the last degree (29th) in any given
house?

Hello again, Alois, and than you for your reply to my feedback rarlier today
regarding black and white chart-drawings.
I know that I can copy the chart, and then manipulate it in other programs so
it will get black and white. But the print-quality would still have been
better if the drawing was black and white in the first place, beacuse the
fonts are smoothed with grey-tones, and when converting them to black and
white, the fonts would loook a litte clumsy.
My problem is that I think Astrodienst is a great astrology-program in
itself, much better than any I know, that is except for the print-quality,
which in my opinion is a very important feature. I think there are several
ways to improve this:
1) An option for even larger than 150% view of the chart drawings (e.g. 500%)
so that one can copy it into Microsoft Word or other programs and then shrink
it.
2) An option for saving the charts not as graphics, but as line-graphic, that
can be resized without changing the graphic quality, if you understand what I
mean (in a way similar to the option you already have included to view the
data-tables in acrobat reader).
3) As mentioned in my previous feedback, an option for viewing the charts as
black and white (no grey and no colours).
Hope you understand what I mean, and that you would consider it. But anyway
I'm very happy about this website, regardless if it will be improved or not.
Jakob Torgersen [ nospamtorgersen.as ]

Alois adds: We have to consider that we still have a business of SELLING
chart drawings, and this is one of the reasons why there are quality
restrictions for the free chart drawings. However, we intend to offer the
chart drawing service in PDF quality online for an annual subscription fee.
But for black and white, you may not have understood what I said about conversion threshold. If you set this threshold low enough, every non-white pixel will
come out black, and this seems to be what you want.
Yours is a fantastic site and I use it daily and continue to recommend it to
acquaitances. Just one thing. I've been interested in midpoints for several
years now and find that it adds a deeper dimension to the chart particularly
on how unaspected planets are actually operating in the natives chart. Is
there any likelihood of you guys incorporating a midpoint tree structure into
services ?

Alois adds: Thank you for the kind feedback, Mairead.
We have no time for active development in the chart output
area, we juts make available some of the treasures we have accumulated over
21 years of chart service. However, have you checked the 'additional data
tables' for the Ebertin style charts? It has ordered lists of midpoints, and
aspects to midpoints, allowing you to quickly create proper midpoint trees
even when those are not directly present.
Thank you again for a wonderful site which I use a lot.
I am wondering if you would consider an option for pure black and white on
the chart drawings in the extended chart selection. This because a black and
white (no grey) drawing will get better printer-quality than a colour-drawing
if one doesn't have a colour-printer (I use 150% size and then copy it to
Microsoft Word, but still I am a little disappointed about the
printer-quality).

Alois adds: Thank you for the feedback, Jakob.
I think saving the image file on disk (right mouse click, Save as..)
and then using a graphics program to convert the image into a b/w bitmap
will do the job for you. You will have to set the conversion threshold low,
so that 10% graylevel gives you already black. Even inside Word there might
be such a conversion feature, I don't know the the range of image manipulation
features in that unloved monster program.
My continuing gratitude for your fine service. I haven't made a progressed
chart from your extended chart selection recently, and find no progressed

mir gleich gut geht.

Alois adds: Frequently, the requirements for precision in astrology are
not properly understood. There is a close relationship between time and
location, and if one of them is not absolutely precise, higher precision
in the other dimension is worthless.
An uncertainity in time of 1 minute corresponds to an uncertainity in location
of about 15 arcmin, or approx. 10-15 miles. There is no point to aim for
exact locations with birth times which are not defined by the second.

I have made the link in your message clickable.
I photographed the picture a few years ago from an advertising poster of the
Zürichsee-Zeitung (Lake of Zurich Daily paper),
and doctored it a little for personal details. Our Zollikon office building
borrowed its tower from the Bordeaux castle.
The red house, on the right lower corner, is where I live, in Meilen.
My house looks exactly like that, but in
reality it is a bit higher up the hills, among the vineyards.
When you come with the ferry over the lake, it is easy to spot
above the village.
The roadsign a bit higher up points to my favourite place on earth.
The whole picture was of course inspired by a similar drawing published
in the 'Newyorker' magazine and titled 'The New York Perspective', many years
ago.
I wanted you to know that I love your site and I am grateful that you offer

Hello,
Please disregard my earlier inquiry about on-line Vedic astrology web sites.
I spent a couple hours reading your feedback files going back to 1998 and
found that the siderealists ignore the precession of the equinoxes. In my
naïveté, I thought it was the other way around.
One more question please, if I may: I understand we are presently in the
transition period leading to the Age of Aquarius. According to your
calculations, what is the date when this transition period ends and we are
fully into the Age of Aquarius?
Again, thanks for your consideration.

Hi there! I can't tell you how much I LOVE this site!! As a novice, I
depend greatly on you to quickly draw up charts and learn from you.
I do have a question... I've recently become interested in Synodic Return
charts and I find the Lunar Phase Fertility charts most facinating. However,
I was reading my Personal Horoscope for tomorrow (01/12/01) and saw that the
transiting Moon will be conjuncting my natal Sun. I was wondering if this
placement is any less powerful than the Synodic Return? The conjunction in
the Horoscope section caught my attention because the Sun and Moon conjunct
in the 12th house in my natal chart. So, therefore, my Synodic Return
happens when the Sun and Moon conjunct.
As I've said, I'm very much of a novice, and I hope my question isn't silly
or confusing to you. I also hope that you or someone can answer it.
Thanks so much again for providing the astrology community with such a
valuable source of information and education.

written about my partnership etc. I spent two hours getting more and more
thrilled. That´s me - and that´s us. Your horoscope said that this
relationsship would be the one of a lifetime. Yes, it is - and I am no
youngster anymore and I already know the good and the bad times and people. I
will have to know more about it... Most important question for me is to
follow up the last 3 to 4 years. How can one do that? And the nex big
question of course, what might come, i.e. what can I do to make the best of
it. Whatever, you have a really great site and it is worth to spend time

Your new partnership and travel sections are superb, as usual. I have a
problem with the travel section. I've
tried to find areas on the map of North
America and some of the dots indicating
cities are covered by the lines. The print on the map is quite blurred, even
on newer systems and monitors at work. In short, I'm having trouble hitting a
city I want to check. For example, with my birthdata, Toronto is obscured.
Sudbury, Ontario Canada is not there and I'm not sure, even looking at
another map, if I'm close enough when I click.
In closing, let me add that I've found the interpretations (comparing them to

absolutely accurate.

I very much like the Liz Greene format of the printed Natal Chart. One
feature of it is puzzling: aspect lines to Chiron are not drawn like they are
for the other planets (unless one requests aspect lines to the angles and
nodes as well.)
Is this because Ms. Greene prefers it that way, or did that just not get
programmed for some reason?

I need to locate the following special parallels.
66*30'00 N Latitude.
23*30'00 N Latitude.
23*30'00 S Latitude.
66*30'00 S Latitude.

Hello - I find your service valuable, however I'm just wondering about Local
Mean Time - I have a book with a conversion of longitude to time, and also my
chart program converts. I've found that there can be a big difference
between the time indicated by Time Zone and the LMT - creating big changes in
the Rising Sign. Does your online program do this adjustment by longitude,
or go by the Time Zone alone? For example, I entered Kiev Ukraine, which is
at appr. 30E or 2 hours from GMT - but saw the adjusted time was 4 hours (DST
+ 2?) and the longitude per time zone was about 38E. I guess what I'm asking
is, I learned to use LMT... is it not more accurate?
Thanks for your help!
Light,
Danielle

Alois adds: Local mean time is out of use since the late 1800s, when
standard time zones were introduced. It has no practical purpose anymore
and is not required for any astrological calculation. Some astrology
teachers are a bit slow to adapt their teaching, mostly because they
never understood themselves how to compute a horoscope. When you don't
understand the recipe, you don't dare to change it, afraid the horoscope might
blow up. Please give them another century to learn.
Two kinds of time calculation are needed for a horoscope:
a) From the given clock time of a birth, the difference between this clock
time recording and Greenwich time (now called Universal time, or UT) must be
known and UT computed. Then the planetary positions can be computed.
b) From UT and a tabulated value called 'sidereal time at Greenwich at
midnight' the local sidereal time is computed, by adding the longitude
of the birth place (converted to a time angle by dividing
the degrees of longitude by 15),
plus a correction of 10 seconds for every hour of UT (236 seconds for 24 hours,
to be precise).
With this local sidereal time, and the latitude of the birth place,
the houses are computed. The local sidereal time is also called RAMC,
recta ascensio medii coeli.
RAMC = UT (hour:min:sec) + lon / 15 (Hour:min:sec) + UT/24 * 236 (sec)
As you see, the concept of LMT does not come in. Only in ancient times,
when instead of standard time zones local time was recorded in LMT or
even in LAT (local apparent time, as read from a sun-dial), it was more
complicated to compute UT from the given clock time.
Hi!
Thank you for a great web-site.
Unfortunately I found some bugs on the Astro-World-map for Europe. I am born
on
the 20. jan 1974, at 15:24, Sandnessjøen, Norway, and on the map for Europe
my Venus conjunct Descendant-line is placed totally wrong. The same goes for
the Pluto sextile Ascendant-line...

Alois adds: I appreciate your feedback.
Unfortunately I have some doubt that you know enough about the subject
of "astrocartography" to make such claims.
You probably assume that your Venus line must go through your birth place,
because you have it at the descendant in your natal chart. However, in such
maps the rising and setting lines of the planets are computed correct
including ecliptic latitude, i.e. the distance of the planets from the
ecliptic. The lines on the map are the real shadow boundary lines,
which the light from a planet forms on the earth globe.
In a natal chart however, latitude is not considered. What you see
as Venus' placement in a natal chart is actually the position of its
projection point onto the ecliptic.
From the 'additional data table' for your natal chart you can learn
the latitude of your planets, Venus has 6 degrees, which is a lot. You can
expect the rising/setting line to pass a similar distance away from your
birth place.
You may want to try out the '3-dimensional chart drawing'
in the extended chart selection to get an idea where Venus was really
on the sky, when you were born. You find this chart in the group
'Astrodienst special'. I have looked.
Your Venus is actually only two degrees away from
your 8th house cusp. So far in the north of course houses can be very extreme,
as you probably know. In your natal chart, it looks as if Venus is already
under the horizon. This is true for its ecliptic longitude point, but not
for the planet itself, which is well above the horizon.
For Pluto the latitude is still more extreme. Pluto itself has nearly 17
degrees latitude in your chart. What latitude has its sextile point?
This is a tricky question indeed, and open for different opi
